Tom is a 19 year old entrepreneur, recently relocated from his home in New Zealand. Although he currently lives in Brisbane, he has established his business in the Redlands and is looking to find a home in the southern end of the City. Growing up on the family dairy farm in Waikato, Tom worked daily beside his father, a tough but fair ‘old school’ farmer.
Contributing to the success of the family business from an early age helped Tom learn about farm management and the practical skills needed to run a cost-effective working dairy farm. He also learned about crop and pasture health and management; safe work practices and how to build fences, operate heavy machinery and complete basic plumbing, landscaping and drainage work to keep systems running. Work on the farm needed to be done – rain, hail or shine and Tom credits this for helping him develop a strong work ethic and an understanding of the benefits of hard work.
